Early Life

On June 12, 1962, Jordan Peterson was born in Edmonton, a large city in Canada. He has two younger brothers. His father, Walter Peterson, was a schoolteacher, and his mother, Beverly Peterson, was a librarian at The Grand Prix Regional College. Jordan’s school librarian and Canadian politician, Sandy Notley, introduced him to the literary works of Elan Rand and George Orwell.

Study

Jordan completed his graduation degree from Fairview High School in 1979. He was accepted to Grande Prairie Regional College after graduating to study English literature and international political science. After some years, he transferred to the University of Alberta and completed his B.A. degree in political science. He wanted to be a great corporate lawyer. After completing his B.A. degree, he visited Europe to learn about the psychological origins of the Cold War and 20th-century European totalitarianism. He returned to the University of Alberta after a year to complete his second B.A. in Psychology. Peterson received his reputational Ph.D. in clinical psychology from McGill University.

Career

After living at McGill University, Jordan joined the faculty as a doctoral fellow at Harvard University. After some years, he got a promotion and served as an assistant and then associate professor at Harvard University, in the Department of Psychology.

After some years, he decided to return to his motherland, Canada, and joined as a full professor at the University of Toronto. His primary areas of study include various interesting subjects such as social, personality, and abnormal psychology. He pays particular attention to the psychology of religious and ideological belief and evaluation and the improvement of personality and performance.

In 2003, he appeared on the popular TV show TVOntario and gave an entire lecture on the psychological perspective. In 2006, he also appeared in Big Ideas and gave a lecture about maps of meaning. Peterson has appeared as an essayist and panelist on psychologically relevant cultural issues on TV Ontario’s great show The Agenda since 2011.

His great and notable works received support from various reputed agencies like Canada’s Institute for Health Research and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Councils. Jordan is also a fantastic author, having co-authored over a hundred well-known academic papers.

Biblical lecture

Peterson started his notable series, The Psychological Significance of Biblical Stories, in May 2017. It is a holy series based on the Bible. He made several podcasts to promote it.
